Terms of use and community charter

1. Access

Public pages are freely accessible. Posting, comments, messages, clubs, events, contests and professional functions require an account. The Readers’ Circle is restricted to adults.

2. Account

Members provide accurate private information, keep their email current and protect their password. Usernames are public; identity, date of birth and postal address are private. Accounts are personal and non-transferable.

3. Posting rules

Threats, harassment, hate, discrimination, unlawful content, disclosure of personal data, spam, malware, copyright infringement and impersonation are prohibited.

4. Member content

Members retain their rights and authorise display, formatting, on-demand translation, moderation and backup solely for operation of the service.

5. Reports and moderation

Reported content may be hidden automatically pending review. Moderators may restore or remove content, warn users, limit features, suspend or ban accounts. Decisions take account of severity, repetition and context.

6. Appeals

A member may request review at contact@callen-jf.com, stating the username, decision and reasons.

7. Private messages

Unsolicited marketing, harassment and unlawful content are prohibited. Users may block or report others.

8. Clubs and meetings

Member-created clubs require approval. Private home addresses must be disclosed only to accepted attendees. Participants remain responsible for their own safety and conduct.

9. Authors and bookshops

Official author profiles and bookshop accounts require validation. The bookshop ordering area is private. Specific order terms prevail over these general terms.

10. Contests

Each contest has specific rules. Postal addresses are used only to send prizes. Fraud or multiple accounts may result in exclusion.

11. Availability

The service may be interrupted for maintenance, security or technical changes. Material changes will be announced appropriately.

12. Account closure

Members may request deletion. Contributions may be anonymised as “Deleted account” to preserve discussions. Accounts may be suspended or deleted for breaches, fraud, security risks or legal requirements.

13. Liability

Member opinions bind only their authors. The publisher does not guarantee relationships, meetings or transactions between users or third parties.

14. Changes

These terms may be updated. Material changes will be notified and may require renewed acceptance.
